Study-at-Ease Pandemic Prevention Measures
for COVID-19

A. Eligibility
|
All measures are implemented in accordance with the announcement made by CECC.
|
B. Certification
|
Notice for Home Isolation/ Notice for Home Quarantine or other supporting certification.
|
C. Course Enrollment and Study
|
- Semester starts from Sep 20th, 2021 and the first class begins on Sep 20th, 2021.
- The school will switch to real time and remote teaching from Sep 22nd ~Oct 3rd, 2021. Roll call is mandatory for each class. The class must not proceed in non-real time mode.
- The first round of course enrollment is rescheduled to Sep 14th, 2021~Sep 17th, 2021.
The second round of course enrollment is rescheduled to Sep 29th , 2021~Oct 3rd, 2021. Please refer to the Course Enrollment Schedule for the 1st Semester of AY 2021-2022.
- Students from Hong Kong, Macao, and mainland China, who are subject to the entry ban, may request the affiliated department to process the course enrollment manually on their behalf.
- Students may consult their affiliated department (or the Office of Career Development and Industry Facilitation) and evaluate whether to reserve or postpone the qualification for a study abroad plan for double degree program or internship program.
- By personal choice, students who requested a study abroad or overseas internship program must sign a declaration form for the International Office or the Office of Career Development and Industry Facilitation.
- For students who cannot commence the overseas internship or study as planned, please complete the course enrollment by the regular schedule by themselves. Should one fail to reach the minimum credits per semester or enroll a course, please seek assistance from both the affiliated department and Division of Registration and Curriculum.
- In the special case upon approval, students may take less credits than the minimum requirement for a semester.
- Students must follow the curriculum and begin the study as scheduled starting from Sep 22nd, 2021. For any questions, please contact the affiliated department as soon as possible.
- Students should active the campus account Microsoft Teams as soon as possible, and check whether the courses of choice are properly ready for the remote teaching. For more instructions on the system, please review the Handbook of Microsoft Teams (Link). Reach Office of Information Technology Services or Teaching Development Center for assistance.
- To audit a remote course, please contact the instructor before the class begins via e-mail or the chatroom and voice talk on Teams, and complete the course enrollment. See the website of Teaching Development Center for more instructions.

D. Registration, and Payment for Tuition and Fees
|
- In order to complete the registration, overseas students must pay the tuition and fees (including accommodation fees) before Sep 13th, 2021.
- Students who suffer from the pandemic impact may assign someone on their behalf to ask for a leave, withdraw from the school and etc... Or they may make up the procedure with a valid certification no later than 3 weeks from the beginning of semester.

E. Leave Request
|
For students whose cases have been notified to the authority and kept in track, their absence during the leave will be waived for the semester, and does not affect the attendance grade.

F. Leave Request for an Exam
|
The leave request for an exam will be considered with leniency. Instructors may decide for themselves regarding the means to make up the exam.

G. Remedial Learning
|
For partial courses which provide real time or non-real time remote teaching (6 weeks at max until Oct 29th ), students may apply for assisted learning. Furthermore, the school also provides remedial learning for courses required by the school and the department. H. Class Suspension, Resumption, and Make-up
|
- The protocols for class suspension, resumption, and make-up are implemented in accordance with the regulations mandated by the central authority and CECC.
- How to make up a class after the suspension:
- The make-up learning content must retain 18 hours for one credit. The instructors may adjust the class schedule and teaching method as they see fit.
- Should all courses must be suspended for complying with the pandemic containment, progress during the suspension may be made up by a new schedule or method as agreed upon by both instructors and students.

I. Withdrawal and Extension of Study Years
|
- Overseas students must enter the border no later than Oct 12th, 2021, and study at the university upon the completion of 14+7 quarantine. Failing to report in at the university in time, students will have to apply for the withdrawal, either via correspondence or by an authorized party, to Division of Registration and Curriculums by showing related certification. The tuition and fees, which are previously paid by the students of withdrawal, may be carried over the next semester to deduct the tuition and fees according to the College-level and Above Tuition Fee Policy by the Ministry of Education.
- For students whose departing countries(as previously mentioned) are subject to the entry ban and thus cannot study at the university this semester, they may request for the special permission to withdraw without increasing the numbers of withdrawal.

J. Counseling Mechanism
|
- Attentive care mechanism is activated:
The task force consists members from the Division of Student Housing Service, Counseling and Health Center, and Office of International Affairs, and provides assessment and treatment for the focused cases. Depending on the cases, the task force may offer referral to external resources
- Tracking Mechanism for Individual Cases:
The School Security Center (Military Office) would be the sole contact window after working hours. During the working hours, the School Security Center may referral the questions to the Office of Academic Affairs.
- Student privacy is the prior concern, and all students’ status and data are well-protected.

K. Grading
|
